The EB-2 is a second-preference employment-based immigrant visa for professionals who bring advanced qualifications to the U.S. workforce. 

The EB-2 Visa Categories

How Do You Qualify?

Most EB-2 petitions require a qualifying job offer and an approved PERM labor certification, which confirms that no qualified U.S. workers are available for the position and that hiring the foreign national won't adversely affect wages or working conditions for U.S. workers. 

However, applicants who qualify for a National Interest Waiver may be able to self-petition without a job offer or labor certification. To do so, they must show that their work is of substantial merit and national importance.
